The Historic Summit Atelier, New York City Atelier & South Beach Atelier.
In the creative spaces of the “Historic Summit Atelier” many great pieces of art have been created. There does not seem to be a specific place where my artwork begins or ends. Sometimes I find myself being disciplined and draw at my crafted European drawing table. Other times I am lying on the couch in front of the fireplace, on the porch listening to birds, in a chair arms length away from a German stout, or even while I watch TV in bed. I can’t say there is a magical spot I have designated to work. It seams like when I want to create I just do it where I feel most comfortable that day. Many people ask me, “How do you know when a piece of artwork is completed?” I say, “When I finally get around to framing them.” It is at that time, I know the artwork is complete and I have done my job.
Many trips I’ve taken have impacted, educated, and affected the way I see art and the world around me. My trip to Munich, Germany gave me the chance to see Albrecht Durer framed in a museum, Neuschwanstein castle, majestic mountaintops, and endless landscapes of beauty. My trip to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil offered ageless architecture, amazing beaches & cliffs, sculpture of Christ on the mountain top, dance clubs flaunting the nightlife, and a vibrant colorful culture. A trip to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica offered underwater excitement on the coral reefs, aspiring walks through the jungle, trips to small school towns, and memorable experiences with the native people. Yes, traveling educates you and allows you to see culture through many different lenses. These trips offered new images, vibrant colors, fresh smells, and savory tastes, etching themselves into my memories forever. But most of all my art passions are in nature, in cities both big and small, sitting quietly on a park bench looking outward, right around my neighborhood, my own home, and the yard I live in.
I am headquartered in the TwinCities of Minnesota, and have studio location in Manhatten, New York & South Beach, Florida. With family connections in each city I have become amazed of the art and culture in these vibrant communities and visit frequently for inspiration.
